Two of the Victorian era's most celebrated actresses and beauties, Lillian Russell (in blue) and Lillie Langtry....Miniature 5 1/2" one of a kind sculptures, with handsewn costumes of silks and antique laces. These were part of a set of famous actresses created in miniature by Galia for a series of national magazine articles. Lillie's bustle gown is completely hand embroidered with tiny blue roses, while Lillian's stage gown has elaborate beadwork and the tiniest of sparkling rhinestones all over it. Both are modelled after photographs of the time as well as the famous Poynter portrait of Lillie seen in the background. Private collections, USA |
